Associate Professor & Director of Community Outreach, Department of Spanish and Portuguese,  Ana Cornide serves as the outreach and community engagement expert for the project.

Her academic research focuses on the cultural politics of gendered migration and the figure of the migrant as a site of cross-cultural dialogue. In Fall 2021 she received the College of Humanities Chatfield Impact Award; in Spring 2022 she received the UA’s Koffler Prize for her outreach work.

Associate Professor of Mexican-American Studies, Michelle Téllez is a renowned scholar in the field of Border and Chicanx Studies.

Her most recent book, Border Women and the Community of Maclovio Rojas: Autonomy in the Spaces of Neoliberal Neglect, was published in September of 2021. She was an advisor on the acclaimed film about Chicano musician Ramon “Chunky” Sanchez, Singing Our Way to Freedom (Paul Espinosa, 2018).

Griffith is an award-winning filmmaker with more than three decades of experience in narrative and documentary film. She is Co-Founder of QUAD Productions and is an Associate Professor of Film and Media Production in the Sidney Poitier New American Film School at Arizona State University.

Griffith’s work as a cinematographer, co-director, producer, and editor includes the feature documentaries Queer, Broke, & Amazing!, América’s Home, and the award-winning Mountains That Take Wing—Angela Davis & Yuri Kochiyama: A Conversation on Life, Struggles & Liberation. Her dramatic feature debut, Del Otro Lado (The Other Side)—shot on location in Mexico City—explores love, AIDS, and immigration and screened widely at U.S. and international festivals.

Trained in New York’s independent film community, Griffith began her career in the camera department, working on landmark projects including Juice starring Tupac Shakur, Eyes on the Prize, A Litany for Survival: The Life and Work of Audre Lorde, films by D. A. Pennebaker and Chris Hegedus, and music videos for artists ranging from Tracy Chapman and Public Enemy to The Rolling Stones.

Her screenplays have been finalists for the Sundance Screenwriters and Directors Labs and have received top honors from the Latino Screenplay Competition. Her writing appears in Meridians, Signs, Calyx, and multiple edited volumes on feminist, Black, and transnational cultural criticism.

Quan is a political theorist, award-winning filmmaker, and Professor of Justice Studies in the School of Social Transformation at Arizona State University. Her scholarship, including creative work, focuses on movements for justice, abolition feminism, critiques of capitalism, and race, gender and radical thought.

Quan is the editor of Cedric J. Robinson: On Racial Capitalism, Black Internationalism, and Cultures of Resistance (Pluto, 2019) and the author of Growth Against Democracy: Savage Developmentalism and the Modern World (Lexington Books, 2012). Her most recent book, Become Ungovernable: An Abolition Feminist Ethic for Democratic Living examines practices of refusal against everyday and systemic tyrannies and was named one of Ms. Magazine’s “Most Anticipated Feminist Books of 2024.” Currently, she serves as Routledge’s “Gender, Sexuality & Praxis” Focus Book Series Editor.

In 1999, with C. A. Griffith, Quan co-founded QUAD Productions, a nonprofit grassroots media organization committed to communication as a human right.
